Electronic Cave Survey

The Caveatron SV is an an electronic cave survey instrument that takes the regular Caveatron platform, reduces it size by removing the LIDAR, while adding additional survey functionality.

The standard Caveatron can perform traditional cave surveys but if 3D scanning is not required, it can be a bit bulky to use. Enter the Caveatron SV, which is focused just on cave survey. The size is reduced in all dimensions while retaining the same overall operating interface. Additional functionality is included specifically for cave survey. Unlike the standard Caveatron, no reflective card is used and it can shot to any surface.

Capabilities include:

  1. STANDARD SHOTS - Records standard cave survey measurements (distance, azimuth, and inclination) in a single 3 second reading with station name entry.                     
  2. LRUD MODE - Collects left, right, up, and down passage outline data                                        
  3. POINTS MODE - Allows rudimentary LIDAR-like repeating point measurements of wall outlines, running profiles, and cross-sections at 2 pts per sec
  4. QUICKSHOTS - Generate a list of shots rapidly without needing to enter station names.      
  5. OPTIONAL GPS OR BLUETOOTH HARDWARE - Record surface feature locations directly into onboard survey file or add a bluetooth module for future connection to external digital survey applications.
